Left spews deadly venom over Tony Snow’s cancer
![]() White House Press Secretary Tony Snow |
Moments after White House Press Secretary Tony Snow’s new personal battle against cancer became public yesterday, a vicious assault was launched at left-leaning websites, with some message posters hoping for a swift death for the presidential spokesman.
“Under the heading of ‘What goes around comes around’, the cancer in Tony Snow is removing the cancer of Tony Snow from the national scene,” wrote TDoff on the D.C. gossip site Wonkette.com.
Omnilation wrote, “Dear Tony, I hate you. -God.”
A contributor called homofascist stated, “It is a bitch that I wouldn’t wish upon even a smarmy, evil f—face liar like Snow. Because really, isn’t he OUR smarmy, evil f—face liar?”
Some readers at HuffingtonPost.com reportedly said:
Beccawalton was among those calling for an end to the venom-spewing: “Stop these mean-spirited and hypocritical posts. Just because you don’t like his politics (and I don’t, either), don’t revel in this. It’s inhuman and cruel. I’m not going to waste space to prove my liberal cred, just stop it!” And PghLori noted: “There are freakin’ idiots on both sides of the political divide, and here you’re looking at the lib side. Aside from the fact that it is just ignorant to make jokes about cancer, it’s also self-defeating, as [Rush] Limbaugh, [Sean] Hannity, etc. will refer to these postings as examples of hate-filled libs, just as they did with the Cheney board postings. Thanks a lot folks.” In fact, the verbal attack on Snow came exactly one month after a similar onslaught against Vice President Dick Cheney who survived an assassination attempt in Afghanistan. An example from the HuffingtonPost on Feb. 27 included: “Jesus Christ and General Jackson too, can’t the Taliban do anything right? They must know we would be so gratefull (sic) to them for such a remarkable achievement.” The HuffingtonPost is run by Arianna Huffington, who has described herself as “a former right-winger who has evolved into a compassionate and progressive populist.” A disclaimer on her site above the remarks about Tony Snow states “these comments are the personal opinions of the individuals posting them and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Huffington Post. We do not generate, solicit, or moderate user comments, but reserve the right to remove postings as we see fit.” Snow, 51, had his colon removed in 2005 and underwent six months of chemotherapy. Colleagues said his cancer has returned and spread to his liver and elsewhere, and that Snow told them he planned to fight the disease and return to his position. “He is not going to let this whip him, and he’s upbeat,” President Bush said. “And so my message to Tony is, ‘Stay strong; a lot of people love you and care for you and will pray for you.’”

British House of Lords Votes on Equality Act (Sexual Orientation Regulations) 2007, Raises Serious Implications for Christian Believers
By Michael Ireland
Chief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service
LONDON, ENGLAND (ANS) – The vote by 168 to 122 in the British House of Lord’s on March 21 in favor of the Government’s Equality Act (Sexual Orientation Regulations) 2007 marks the imposition of a new morality, according to the website www.christianconcernforournation.co.uk, which is a project of the Lawyers Christian Fellowship in the United Kingdom.
An e-mail media release says: “It is a clear sign that despite saying they were going to consult and listen the Government has failed to respect the consciences of citizens whose values are formed and shaped by their deeply held religious beliefs, be they Christian, Muslim or Jewish. This could have been easily resolved by a simple conscience clause.”
The e-mail states: “In a week where the whole country celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Abolition of Slavery, brought about, by and large, through the determined efforts of William Wilberforce, we would do well to remember his driving force and motivation stemmed from his Christian conviction. History will record that today’s vote marked the increased secularization of Britain confining faith to private thought, rather than public manifestation in works of service for the whole community.”
It adds: “The consequences and implications of the SORs will unfold month by month. The result of the vote will mean that rather than balancing rights, the right to live a homosexual lifestyle will trump the right to live a Christian lifestyle.”
The Christian Concern for our Nation website says that many Christians will be affected by this new law. Christians and other faith community groups will be considering the implications of the SORs carefully and will reflect on the various legal options open to them, it says.
Christian Concern for our Nation (CCFON) is an activity of the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship Public Policy Unit. It’s website says: “It is a service for non-lawyers who want to be equipped to understand, act and respond to the increasing number of legal issues impacting the Gospel and Biblical justice at the heart of our society. CCFON consists of a website and e-mail update service supported by an active team of lawyers.”
The website says that many laws impacting on Christians’ day-to-day lives go against biblical values, and more are being passed every year by the British Government. For example, there are currently discussions in Parliament about laws relating to reducing freedom to preach the gospe, legalizing euthanasia, and making abortions more easily available.
The site says: “More and more it seems Christians are rejecting the apathy which has so often kept the Church silent. We realize both the need and the power of uniting together and making our voices heard. The call to Christians is to stand up for values God expresses in the Bible.”
‘A bigger threat to Christian liberty than the Religious Hatred Bill?’
CCFON describes the legislation as “An incredibly important piece of legislation (which) threatens Christian freedom to act with integrity according to the Bible.”
It also says the government has proposed ‘Sexual Orientation Regulations’ which will impact churches, Christian organizations, charities, groups and individuals. The Regulations have been described by some leading Christian figures from across denominational lines as representing a greater threat to Christian liberty than the Racial and Religious Hatred Bill did.
What are the Sexual Orientation Regulations (SOR) and why is it a problem?
The site says that “Using power they gave to themselves through the Equality Act 2006, the government are pushing through a new law (the SOR) which will make it illegal for providers of goods, services, facilities, premises, education or public functions to discriminate against the recipients on the grounds of their sexual orientation i.e. whether they are homosexual, heterosexual or bisexual.
“Firstly, we must stress that Christians are commanded to love all their neighbors (including homosexuals) equally. Christians would never want to be homophobic or discriminate against homosexuals out of bigotry or prejudice. Christians of course earnestly desire the repentance and salvation of homosexuals.
“However, the Bible is clear that the only rightful sexual relationship for which we were created, is a relationship between a man and a woman in the context of a legitimate marriage. Consequently there are times when Christians need to be free to discriminate against homosexuals in order to make it clear that we believe in the Bible’s teaching that homosexual practice is wrong.”
The website cites three examples of how this new law would affect Bible-believing Christians: It asks readers to consider a Christian couple who own a bed and breakfast, a Christian Community Center, which receives public funding, and a Church of England school.
A Christian couple who own a bed and breakfast: “They provide a ’service’ according to the law. Therefore if the SOR become law, it would be illegal for that Christian couple to refuse a homosexual and his partner (who had a registered civil partnership) a room with a double bed for the night, even if they also refused an unmarried heterosexual such a room: according to the new Regulations a registered gay civil partnership is equal to a marriage, and to discriminate against gay civil partners would constitute discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation.”
A Christian Community Center, which receives public funding: “If that Center hired out its premises to local groups but refused to hire the hall out to a homosexual group who wanted to promote homosexual practices, that would be illegal discrimination under the new Regulations.
A Church of England school: “They offer education, and were the SOR to become law, it would be illegal for the C of E school to have a ‘bias’ on their curriculum in favor of heterosexual relationships — this would discriminate against any possible homosexual pupils or homosexual parents who wanted their child to be taught about the acceptability of homosexuality.
The CCFON site says: “These examples are based on the Northern Ireland Regulations which came into force on the 1st January 2007. Please follow our ‘latest news’ section (www.christianconcernforournation.co.uk/Latest/latest.php) to find out the current situation with the England, Wales and Scotland Regulations, to know what restrictions the legislation will place on Christian freedom.”
The CCFON says the Northern Ireland SORs came into force on January 1, 2007. The England, Wales and Scotland SORs are due to come into force in April 2007. It is therefore anticipated that they will be published in early 2007.
Concerned believers are requested to sign the Petition to Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II on proposed Government Sexual Orientation Regulations at: www.christianconcernforournation.co.uk/sorpetition.php

Talk about a group who knows nothing about Jesus!
Jesus a vegetarian in PETA campaign
Beatle Paul McCartney, other figures join as ‘disciples’ in ‘Last Supper’ portrayal

A controversial new public relations campaign by animal-rights group PETA proclaims Jesus Christ to have been a vegetarian, and portrays the Last Supper – complete with 12 “disciples” including Beatle Paul McCartney and lesbian country-music singer k.d. lang – as a spectacle meant to inspire mankind to forsake eating meat.
The outreach has been built into a 28-foot 1955 Silver Streak Airstream trailer wherein the “Last Supper” is re-created, surrounding Jesus with famous vegetarians, officials of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals told WND.
Dallas artist Greg Metz’s work first was displayed in his hometown, then in Columbia, S.C., and now is headed for Norfolk, Va., according to campaign coordinator Mike Brazell.
“From all the demonstrations, this one has been the most successful in getting people to go vegetarian,” he told WND. “People are visibly moved by the display itself.”
“I’ve had people telling me they’re going to be re-evaluating their food choices and lives after seeing the display,” he said.

The organization’s “PETA Girl,” whose antics over the years have included appearing naked with a sign that she’d rather be nude that wear fur, for this event was Eva Carpinelli from Milano, Italy.
The vegetarian “disciples” represented in the “Last Supper” include the famed Louisa May Alcott, Kafka, George Bernard Shaw, Cesar Chavez, Susan B. Anthony, Jesus, Alec Walker, Paul McCartney, k.d. lang, Gandhi, Einstein and Leonardo Da Vinci, officials said.
On the other side of the trailer are graphic images of animal slaughterhouses, and available at the trailer will be screenings of PETA’s movie, “Meet Your Meat,” narrated by Alec Baldwin.
“Why might visitors to the ‘The Diner’ arrive as meat-eaters and go home as vegetarians? Intensively bred and housed, animals in factor farms are kept in cramped, unnatural conditions,” the organization said. “Baby chickens have their sensitive beaks cut off, pigs have their tails and the tips of their teeth cut off, and cows are dehorned and castrated – all without any painkillers.”

“The Diner is designed to give people food for thought,” said Metz.
The display already has made its way across Europe.
As an online report about PETA’s claims attests, no mainstream theologian buys the vegetarians’ argument, since the New Testament clearly states, repeatedly, that Jesus ate animal flesh: “Jesus said unto them, Have ye here any meat? And they gave him a piece of broiled fish. … And he took it, and did eat before them.” (Luke 24:41-43).
There are other references to Jesus eating fish, as well as the lamb traditionally served during the Passover.
State police take children from parents. Their crime? They were home schooling their daughter.
|
March 23, 2007 Please help us get this information into the hands of as many people as possible by forwarding it to your entire email list of family and friends. State police take children from parents. Their crime? They were home schooling their daughter. Please stand for the God-given right of these parents to freely educate their children as their conscience dictates.
This letter is slightly longer than what I usually write. But I beg you to please read all of it. How would you feel if a group of 15 fully armed police officers walked into your home, grabbed your 15-year-old daughter, and left without telling you where they were taking her? Not only that, but you soon found out that your daughter was being arrested because she was being home schooled, and she would not be allowed to come home until she was placed in a public school! This is already a reality for some families —not in America— but in Germany. Melissa Busekros of Erlangen, Bavaria, was taken from her parents, Hubert and Gudrun Busekros. Why worry about this if it isn’t in America? Because America is becoming like Europe more and more. Not only that, but here are two families who have nearly no hope that the government will listen to them. I don’t like saying this because it seems so extreme, but if we continue on the way we are going this will be happening in America, unless we work to stop it now. Using the same law, police recently took five “well-educated” children from their parents for the same reason. Police took into legal custody Rosine, Jotham, Kurt-Simon, Lovis and Ernst Brause, the children of Bert and Kathrin Brause. The state will not allow Bert and Kathrin to regain custody of their children unless they agree to place them in a public school. The judge concluded that the children were well-educated but accused the parents of failing to provide their children with an education in a public school. The judge noted that one of the daughters expressed the same opinions as her father, stating that they have not had the chance to develop “independent personalities!” Please take the following quote in context. I’m not trying to be an extremist, but a realist. One of the first acts by Adolf Hitler when he gained power in Germany was to create the governmental Ministry of Education and give it control of all schools and school-related issues. In 1937, Hitler said: “This Reich stands, and it is building itself up for the future, upon its youth. And this Reich will give its youth to no one, but will itself take youth and give to youth its (the state’s) own education and its own upbringing.” 1. Please send the e-mail to German officials who have the ability to right this wrong. Your email will be sent to Germany’s president and key decision making officials. It will include your name and email address only. 2. Please forward this letter to family and friends and ask them to help these two families in Germany get their children back. |

Muslims slam conference of Christians
By IAN STEWARD – The Press | Friday, 23 March 2007
A conference of Christian church leaders on the “threat” of Islam to New Zealand is being condemned as a “conference of bigots” by senior New Zealand Muslims.
The organiser of the Mosque and Miracles conferences, national director of Middle East Christian Outreach Murray Dillner, said the conference would address the threat posed by Islam to New Zealand society – a threat he likened to the terrorist attacks in the United States of September 11, 2001.
“It’s an underlying threat, but it’s like the twin towers – they imploded. Islam does the same thing to a society – it makes it implode,” he said.
“The mindset of Islam is to take over the world. They will do that by any means they can.
“The church in England ignored Islam. If the church in New Zealand doesn’t rise up, we will be in the same situation.”
Federation of Islamic Associations president Javed Khan said it was a “conference of bigots”.
“It’s fearmongering; Islamophobia. The organisers are prejudiced, biased bigots,” he said.
“For heaven’s sake, we are less than 1 per cent of the population. Muslims have been in New Zealand for a century. No Muslim has ever done anything like what they are afraid of.”
The conference, scheduled for the Spreydon Baptist Church on July 23 and 24, will feature three Australian speakers.
Pastor Stuart Robinson, the author of the book Mosques and Miracles, lived among Muslims in Southeast Asia and has spoken at conferences in Australia and South Africa.
One of the speakers at the Australian conferences, Pastor Daniel Scot, was tried under Australian religious vilification laws in 2004.
Dillner said another speaker on the New Zealand tour, Daniel Sheyesteh, knew the militant side of Islam from his early years as a trainer for Hezbollah and from his involvement in the Iranian Islamic revolution.
Sheyesteh fell foul of the Iranian authorities and escaped execution by fleeing to Turkey, where he converted to Christianity, Dillner said.
“He speaks out very clearly about what Islam really is. Muslims don’t have the freedom to change religion. If you do, they’ll do their best to eradicate you,” Dillner said.
A fellow organiser, Open Doors New Zealand director Bruce Quedley, said Islam was often portrayed as a religion of peace, but “realistically that’s not what happens”.
He said the conference was important as “we have adjusted to accommodate parts of society at the expense of Christianity”.
Quedley said the conferences were restricted to church leaders to prevent those who may seek to “disrupt” the proceedings.
Acting Christchurch imam (religious leader) Mohammad Alayan said: “What do you make of it other than blind hatred?
“If they are going to criticise Islam, they should invite us to come and discuss it with them. There are many good Christians out there and I hope … they will not go along with this.”
Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres said freedom of speech meant viewpoints could not be suppressed “unless they lead to hostility”.

Democrats’ Budget: Largest Tax Hike in U.S. History, Huge Spending Increases, No Reforms
Wisconsin’s First District Congressman Paul Ryan, the Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, expressed alarm at the contents of the House Democrats’ federal budget plan during the committee’s debate yesterday and following its vote on the proposal early this morning. The budget resolution, which favors tax hikes and major spending increases, was approved by the Budget Committee by a vote of 22-17, with Ryan voting against the measure.
“We can and should balance the budget without raising taxes,” Ryan said. “Regrettably, the Democrats’ budget plan amounts to the largest tax hike in American history, and it still doesn’t get to the heart of the problem – the fact that government is spending taxpayer dollars at an unsustainable rate. In fact, this budget proposal piles on a lot more new spending and doesn’t even attempt meaningful entitlement reforms.”
“We must do better than this. The longer we put off solving the problem of soaring entitlement costs, the harder it will be for our children – America’s future workforce – who would have to bear massive debts and pay twice as much in taxes just to maintain the status quo. We cannot tax our way out of this fiscal chasm. We need to restrain spending and enact reforms that improve the way entitlement programs work. Unfortunately, the House Democrats’ budget resolution does neither. While I agree strongly with the goal of balancing the budget by 2012, the tax and spend policies used to get there in this budget will end up driving us right back into deficits, while hurting job growth and our economy. Washington doesn’t have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem,” Ryan said.
“The budget presents a great opportunity to set our nation on the right fiscal path for the future. Sadly, in this case, it’s a missed opportunity. This is why Republicans will be offering a different balanced budget plan next week that instills fiscal discipline, does not raise taxes, and addresses the challenge of entitlement reform.”
Congressman Ryan and fellow Budget Committee Member Congresswoman Gwen Moore did succeed in getting an amendment to the budget proposal approved by the committee that helps pave the way for 100 percent of child support payments to get directly to the families they are meant to assist, which is the goal of legislation that Ryan and Moore coauthored last year. This provision expresses the sense of the House that additional legislative action is needed to ensure that states have the necessary resources to collect all child support that is owed and to allow them to pass 100 percent of child support payments on to families without financial penalties.
Based on the information revealed at yesterday’s House Budget Committee debate and markup of the fiscal year 2008 budget resolution, here are some of the key points of concern with the Democrat budget plan:
Higher Taxes
The revenue assumptions behind this budget resolution rely on the expiration of the widespread tax relief Congress enacted in 2003, raising taxes on the American people by nearly $400 billion over five years – the largest tax increase in our nation’s history.
Failure to renew the tax relief would impact taxpayers by:
*
Raising marginal rates on all taxpayers;
*
Eliminating the ten percent bracket that has benefited numerous low-income individuals;
*
Raising the tax on capital gains and dividends and discouraging investment in our economy;
*
Cutting the child tax credit in half;
*
Reinstating the marriage penalty;
*
Reimposing the death tax.
This budget sets a double standard by assuming that tax relief expires – causing automatic tax hikes – but spending programs continue indefinitely.
Huge Spending Increases
Having already increased current-year spending by $6.1 billion, and adding more than $20 billion to the Iraq supplemental, Democrats are proposing another increase of more than $22.5 billion in nondefense, nonemergency annual appropriations for fiscal year 2008. The budget proposal also sets the stage for future overspending. For the years 2009-2012, it assumes annual nondefense, nonemergency appropriations will increase by an average of 2.4 percent per year, which is still greater than the projected rate of inflation.
No Significant Reform or Offsets
This budget ignores repeated warnings from individuals, including the Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve, about the rapidly escalating costs of entitlements. It puts off any significant reform for at least five years – allowing the problem to worsen.
Gimmicks
Among the gimmicks in this budget are the “reserve funds.” Instead of providing funding for promised initiatives, the budget proposal includes ten reserve funds that promise extra funding for pet initiatives if offsets are included. The reserve funds have no real effect because budget rules already permit initiatives not assumed in the budget to be financed by offsets.
Note also that this budget plan fails to provide even a one-year patch, let alone a permanent reform of the alternative minimum tax (AMT). Instead, this budget employs a “reserve fund” that allows AMT relief only if offset by equivalent tax increases or spending cuts – which are not spelled out.
Obama’s pastor admits concerns over candidate’s ties to Islam
Chad Groening
OneNewsNow.com
March 21, 2007
The head of a pro-Israel ministry is praising the pastor of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama’s church for admitting his concerns about the Illinois senator’s association with the Palestinians and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
Jeremiah Wright, Jr., is pastor of Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ, where as a 26-year-old, Barack Obama walked down the aisle and publicly committed himself to God. But in two separate interviews, Pastor Wright has revealed his concerns about Obama’s pro-Islamic leanings. Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries, is saluting Wright for expressing his concerns.
“He warned the senator that association [with the Palestinians] could pose political problems partly because of his history of supporting Palestinian causes,” notes Markell. “Barack Obama has made the statement that the Palestinians are the most oppressed people on earth.”
And Markell commends the pastor for his concerns about a 1984 trip Obama made to Libya, where he met with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. “Wright states a lot of [Obama's] Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in Hades [because of that meeting],” she suggests. She believes that Pastor Wright, in issuing the warning, “was speaking out of genuine concern for Obama and perhaps even America. So I salute him.”
Markell fears that if Obama becomes president, the United States will “blatantly” turn its back on Israel — and suffer the consequences later.
Iraqis: life is getting better
Marie Colvin
MOST Iraqis believe life is better for them now than it was under Saddam Hussein, according to a British opinion poll published today.
The survey of more than 5,000 Iraqis found the majority optimistic despite their suffering in sectarian violence since the American-led invasion four years ago this week.
One in four Iraqis has had a family member murdered, says the poll by Opinion Research Business. In Baghdad, the capital, one in four has had a relative kidnapped and one in three said members of their family had fled abroad. But when asked whether they preferred life under Saddam, the dictator who was executed last December, or under Nouri al-Maliki, the prime minister, most replied that things were better for them today.
Only 27% think there is a civil war in Iraq, compared with 61% who do not, according to the survey carried out last month.
By a majority of two to one, Iraqis believe military operations now under way will disarm all militias. More than half say security will improve after a withdrawal of multinational forces.
Margaret Beckett, the foreign secretary, said the findings pointed to progress. “There is no widespread violence in the four southern provinces and the fact that the picture is more complex than the stereotype usually portrayed is reflected in today’s poll,” she said.

WASHINGTON, D.C.
The University of Florida football team traveled to Washington, D.C. on Monday to meet with President George W. Bush on the South Lawn of the White House. The Gators were invited to the nation’s Capitol to take part in a ceremony to honor the 2006 National Championship squad.
The festivities included a photo opportunity on the South Lawn, where President Bush was presented with a #43 Gator jersey from Coach Meyer, representative of President Bush being the 43rd president of the United States. Quarterback Chris Leak also presented President Bush with a football. President Bush addressed the Florida traveling party of 188 people that included members of the 2006 team, coaches, athletic staff, some members of the Board of Trustees and UF president Dr. J. Bernard Machen.
The 2006 Gator football team was UF’s sixth national championship team to visit The White House, joining the 1996 football team, the 1998 soccer and 1998 and the 2003 women’s tennis teams as well as the 2006 men’s basketball team. The 1922 Gator football team also visited The White House.
